"I WAS IN FOOD HEAVEN" "I cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough. The ambience is perfect, the decor is styled with attention to detail of all the soft furnishings, lighting, wall coverings all reminiscent of a luxury Dubai hotel, chic but understated. The food was exceptional. The show stopper for me being the monkfish cheek slider, followed by the scallop starter, I was in food heaven. The fish was cooked to perfection. I had the chicken for my main with blackened garlic sauce and roasted endive, again cooked perfectly. The desserts were delicious, my favourite being the yoghurt parfait. I cannot wait to return and share this experience with my other friends."

"A BREATH OF FRESH AIR" "We have been waiting in anticipation for the launch of Aurum and were lucky enough to be invited for the pre-launch. Aurum's decor, ambience and friendly staff are a breath of fresh air for anyone looking for something a little bit more special in Southend. The staff gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful indeed. The restaurant has a great mix of stylish booths for large groups and cosy corners to sip delicious cocktails and indulge in a special meal. The talented chef has definitely given some love and attention to the menu and the Seabass is a must, don't just take my word for it, give it a try! The bar is very cosy and stylish but the main attraction is definitely Aurum restaurant, we had the best three course meal and luscious cocktails. This restaurant is definitely a wonderful haven to escape to from your daily life. The food ambience and service has been masterfully executed and the superior provenance of the ingredients and the chef's culinary skills shone through all three courses of our meal!"

It had a lovely atmosphere with the most friendly & service driven staff. Set in a perfect location on the Thames estuary, this is refined dining at it's best! "As for the food itself at Aurum, the freshness and flavours take it into a sublime league of its own. We were especially delighted by the monkfish and charcoal bun, which was simply mouth-watering.
